Leadership Team

Joel Lessem

Joel Lessem, CEO and Co-Founder

As Chief Executive Officer, Joel Lessem is responsible for leading Firmex’s strategy and growth. Joel has over 18 years’ experience in successfully accelerating revenues of growth businesses. Under his leadership, Firmex is rapidly becoming a standard for sharing large volumes of highly confidential and sensitive documents for corporate transactions, litigation and compliance. 

Prior to leading Firmex, Joel drove the US growth of PointForce Inc., leading to the company’s acquisition in 2004.  In 1999, Joel co-founded Crescent Logic, a software company that provided online equity research publishing tools for investment banks.

A frequent speaker at CEO forums and industry events, Joel studied History of Philosophy & Science and holds a Master of Arts from University of Toronto, and a Bachelor of Arts from McGill University in Montreal.

Robert Wilder

Robert Wilder, COO and Co-Founder

As Chief Operating Officer, Robert Wilder leads both the Firmex client services in their dedication to exceeding client expectations, and continuously improving Firmex’s internal business systems to increase operational productivity. Frequently called upon by other entrepreneurs and business leaders for his expertise and counsel, Robert has previously spent 19 years as a managing partner in two successful technology and design businesses: Dakis & Wilder and V51 Consulting Inc. 

Robert graduated from McGill University in Montreal and holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Media Studies.

Randy Rosenberg

Randy Rosenberg, CTO and Co-Founder

As Chief Technology Officer, Randy leads the Firmex development and quality assurance teams, guiding them on how to approach new designs and solve technical challenges. Randy has over 25 years of software development experience and proven success in architecting for growth. Prior to co-founding Firmex, he co-founded V51 Consulting Inc. where he designed Lexicon, a popular application development environment.

Randy attended University of Waterloo, University of Toronto, and Ryerson University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts studying Media Arts, Physics, and Math.

Aaron Booth

Aaron Booth, VP, Sales

Aaron serves as the Vice President of Sales for Firmex and manages all aspects of sales and account management while working closely with marketing in understanding client needs.  Since joining Firmex in 2008, Aaron has been responsible for annual triple digit revenue growth. Prior to joining Firmex, Aaron spent 5 years at GE Capital as a Strategic Account Manager and Structuring Manager. Aaron has extensive experience structuring and underwriting senior secured debt, and working closely with financial partners to originate and close M&A transactions.

Aaron holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Information Systems from UCB and an MBA in Finance from Dalhousie University.

Elizabeth Caley

Elizabeth Caley, VP, Product Management

As Vice President of Product Management, Elizabeth is responsible for the company’s product and go-to-market strategies. Prior to joining Firmex, she spent 5 years at Microsoft, most recently holding end-to-end responsibility for Canada’s largest business unit including Office, SharePoint, and Exchange. Previously, Elizabeth held executive roles focused on product strategy and M&A at global software companies including Frayman, Hummingbird, and Delano. 

Elizabeth holds Global Executive MBAs from University of Toronto & University of St. Gallen, Switzerland where she was awarded Dean’s List and Bregman Scholar, and a Bachelor of Commerce, Economics from McGill University.

Marcel Meyer

Marcel Meyer, VP, Engineering

In his role as VP of Engineering, Marcel Meyer is responsible for the day-to-day success of the growing Firmex development team. Having joined Firmex in 2006 as the original product developer, Marcel continues to make critical contributions to Firmex’s technology strategy and system scalability. Prior to joining Firmex, Marcel led development of Geographical Information System applications for AfriGIS in South Africa, and Mobile Development at Irwin Consulting Services.

Prior to moving to Canada, Marcel studied Computer Engineering at Tswane University of Technology in Pretoria, South Africa. 

Mark Wright

Mark Wright, VP, Marketing

As Vice President of Marketing, Mark leads Firmex’s marketing and communications strategy. Mark comes to Firmex from Adenyo, where he led the development of the global Marketing team through to the company`s sale to Motricity in 2011.

Prior to joining Adenyo, Mark was the Director of Global Marketing Operations at Research in Motion, where he drove the expansion of RIM’s global field marketing and training programs, led the direct marketing practice, and pioneered RIM’s web and social media analytics discipline.  Mark holds a degree in film studies from Queen’s University and a master of business administration with a concentration in strategic marketing from McMaster University.

Jeffrey Parker

Jeffrey Parker, Director

Over the past twenty years Jeffrey Parker has developed a successful history as an entrepreneur, CEO and investor in financial services companies. Jeffrey brings an operating perspective to the companies in which he invests, as well as a wealth of financial expertise and an extended network of domestic and international business contacts. In 2003, he was named New England Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young in the Financial Services category.

Jeffrey was the founder and CEO of Technical Data Systems, Business Research Corporation and First Call, and led them to acquisition by Thomson Financial in 1986. Jeffrey went on to serve as CEO Thomson Financial. In 1997, he co-founded and was the CEO of CCBN which was later also acquired by Thomson Financial in 2004.  Jeffrey is a graduate of Cornell University with a Bachelor of Engineering, a Master of Engineering, an MBA. 

Ian Kidson

Ian Kidson, Director

Ian Kidson is an accomplished financial services executive, most recently acting as Managing Director and Co-Head of TD Capital Mezzanine Partners for ten years. Previously, Ian spent 16 years at CIBC World Markets/Wood Gundy, having initially joined Wood Gundy in 1984 in the Investment Banking department. In 1986, he moved to CIBC's Capital Markets group where he analyzed and marketed interest rate swap structures to corporate and government accounts, primarily in connection with debt financing transactions. In 1990, he became Managing Director of the Private Placement (Debt) Group in Toronto, which was followed by a move to CIBC Capital Partners in 1994. At CIBC Capital Partners, he acted as a Principal, leading both mezzanine and equity investments. Ian is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Science and an MBA, both from McMaster University.
